It’s All About the Content

File this under the category of another great  web success story.

See the NY Times article, “’South Park,’ a Vision and a Payoff",” for the story about how Matt Stone and Trey Parker are doing the right thing.

It’s all about the Content.

Build It And They Will Come.

Now, I understand that I’m working for a tools company – but that’s because I’ve got no creative bones in my writing hand, so I have a hard time building content.  (I mean, look at the rockin’ design that this blog is sporting!  Isn’t that a testament to my level of creativity?)  But, it doesn’t mean that I can’t see a great model and want to help others identify with it.  Perhaps that makes me more of a teacher.  (Another great way to make lots of money, right? 🙂 )

Maybe, there are 4 types of people in the world.  Those that know how to write incredible content, those that know how to sell that content, those that buy that content, and those that are “other”.

SharePoint ISVs – Do You Care Enough to Work the Room?

So, I was reading my own blog, and decided that I should review the last few months of Gary Vaynerchuk if I was going to include a link and an embedded video for his show…  (see my previous post).

I found this other one of his… from just last week!  Not sure where I was, but I hadn’t seen it.  "Giving a Presentation vs. Working the Room"  The title is just one principle that he espouses in this quick video.  Worth watching.  Then, ask yourself, "Do you care enough to work the room?"  Well, do you, punk?

I’m learning a couple of things about web marketing from some great leaders of the SharePoint ISV companies that I am visiting with.  I wonder if there’s a way that I can help them.  Web Marketing…  build a brand.  SharePoint could be a platform for building your brand.  (I like that.)

You Want Advertisers? Go Get ‘Em.

I’ve been a fan of Gary Vaynerchuk for a while now, and I think this guy is definitely worth keeping an eye on.  Every couple of weeks, it seems, I see a marketing lesson from him that is clear and to the point.  Hat tip to @KrisColvin – the first mention of Gary’s newest message that I saw today, "Want to get advertisers on your blog/vlog? Go and GET IT."

Gary’s site is a must-read for those starting in the online world.  And, he showed how fun it can be to make a cold call.  Get out there and sell.

You won’t get it if you don’t go out and Take it!
