Never Forget

I don’t have words to describe how I felt this morning while watching and listening to youth read the names of those who perished two years ago.  The youth were children of the fallen, and they would read the almost 2,800 names this morning.  I will never forget.

Two years ago I was preparing for work at home, most of the family was still in bed. (pacific time zone).  I was listening to my favorite sports talk station, and the host came on and said something to this effect… “Well, it looks like that will be the last that you hear from us today.  If you haven’t already heard, a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, and the news guys are coming in….”   I listened and then watched for the next couple of hours.  I remember that I could not stop feeling that this was a deliberate attack from the backside, by some (at that time, unknown to me) group that had crossed the line.

I remain convinced that the war on terrorism is justified.  I’m sorry that 9/11 has become such a political thing.  This does not have to be political.

This news story is worth archiving somewhere.  “We Have Some Planes,” Hijacker Told Controller, by Matthew L. Wald with Kevin Sack, The New York Times, October 16, 2001..
